Taipei Deaflympics Mascots Peace & Love

The Taipei Deaflympics Mascot Naming Contest successfully ended a few days ago; after the final round of online voting, the winning names have been chosen: “Peace” for the male frog mascot and “Love” for the female frog mascot.

During the naming contest, the contest website received a total of 48,054 hits and 1,262 name entry submissions. For the sake of fairness and completeness, a judge panel consisting of representatives from the Taipei City Government Department of Education, Taipei Sports Office, Taipei Organising Committee of the 21st Summer Deaflympics, and the media was formed. On March 6th, the judge panel selected 10 preliminary name entries from all the online entry submissions based on creativity, representation and internationalization. The selected entries were then posted online for the second phase of online voting.

During online voting, a total of 8,552 valid votes were received. After final tally, “Peace & Love” won first place, with 1502 votes. “For & Mosa” was in second place, with 967 votes. 3rd place went to “Power & In-Me”, which had 627 votes.

The authors of the top three winning entries will respectively receive the following prizes courtesy of 7-11: icash with NT$10,000 credit, icash with NT$8,000 credit, and icash with NT$5,000 credit. In addition, 20 of the participants who voted online have been selected randomly to receive a NIKE sport bag worth NT$2,300.
